A VERY disappointing purchase..

I was considering not writing this review as I'm always reluctant to criticise a brand I (usually) love, but I thought.. hey, it really is a blogger's responsibility to share when they think a product is a pile of poop too. The product is Bourjois Volumizer Mascara, a bit of makeup kit that I've seen fawned over frequently on Youtube, etc - and as I was in the market for a new mascara, I thought I'd give this a go.

It's a two step system, step 1 claims to define and 'prepare' lashes for step 2, which supposedly offers maximum volume to your lashes with no clumps. When I received this I was pretty excited to use it after such gleaming reviews. Step 1 is fine (the brush handle is mega long) and adds just a thin coating of mascara, I suppose if you have rather healthy and long lashes this step may be just enough for you. Alas, I have short stubby ones so I thought step 2 would be just what I needed. Unfortunately there seems to be no suction system (?) when removing the wand which results in a brush full to the brim of mascara. It actually takes me longer to remove all the gloop from the wand than it does to use it! For a product that is a rather whopping £10.49, I would expect a little more. The result, after removing all the excess, is a pretty clumpy look that I really don't think is worth the pennies.

Here are a few pics to demonstrate!

Bourjois Volumizer
Step 1 - looks promising..
Step 2
Step 2 - oh dear!

I'm hoping that with time, as the mascara starts to dry a little, this product may be a little easier to use! Have you bought this product? Would love to know what others think!

Thanks for reading,
Collette

e.l.f super haul :]

Hi everyone!

Sorry it's been so long since i've written here. I did have every intention of doing a birthday haul but it's now 20 days later and I still haven't written one plus I think it's unfair to include some bits and not others so perhaps it is best that I don't show you? Not sure, but either way I had a lovely day.

In the past week, e.l.f have had two 40% off vouchers! One was via email as i'm signed up to their newsletter and the other was because they reached 250,000 likes on Facebook! Although e.l.f is super cheap anyway, this voucher pretty much meant I could have the majority of bits for 90p instead of £1.50 - how pleased was I?

So.. I went a little over the top. I bought some bits with the first voucher then decided to go crazy as it was nearly pay day with my other voucher! I'm not going to ramble too much because i'm just going to get on with the pictures.

Sorry for the quality of the pictures - it's dark and the lights in my lounge are awful! Enjoy :]

Coy & Innocence
Cream Eyeliner & Brush in Black. BEST eyeliner :]
High Definition Face Powder. Not used yet but heard it's amazing.

Lengthining and Defining Mascara.
In Sexy Silver and Cream Deam!
Under Eye Concealer & Highlights - i've been using this as a primer :]
Wet Gloss & Brow Clear Mascara.
Just some swatches!!
Just some nail bits and bobs I was needing to restock.
Black and Mint Cream

White, Coral and Dark Navy

Cranberry and Twinkle
Eyelash curlers and tweezers - can never have enough!

As well as some brushes and other nail polishes :] I think I did really well. These were all bought with the 40% off voucher and each box (because i ordered twice) was about £20ish

Has anyone else tried any of these bits out?

Max Factor False Lash Effect & Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara

Hello lovelies,

I have struggled for a long while now with trying to find a mascara that could transform my rubbish short, straight lashes into something with a little substance. At the moment I'm using two products (I know, it seems a little excessive but don't give up on me yet!) on a daily basis and they are doing the trick nicely for me, adding length and thickness to both my top and bottom lashes.

The first is Max Factor False Lash Effect which is available from Boots or Superdrug for £10.99. This mascara has been raved about a fair bit and does offer great pay off - the wand is pretty large though, so if you're one for more delicate application this may not be for you. The second is Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara also available from Boots (and other Clinique stockists) for £10. I've been hunting for this for absolutely ages as it has forever been out of stock - I think this is mainly due to the affordability and uniqueness of this mascara. It really is like nothing else I've come across, the brush is absolutely teeeny and allows you to reach the lashes you may not have been able to before, or if you're anything like me ended up with a huge mess if you tried! Anyway, I know the writing part of this is dull so here are some sparkly pictures for you :)

..And after!

Hope you enjoyed this one, please feel free to comment and I'll reply back!
